Foundation of Expertise
 

My journey into accounting began in 2019 at a small clothing shop in Bridport, where Opal Dorset gave me my very first opportunity as a trainee bookkeeper. They remain a valued client to this day. It was there I learned the foundations of bookkeeping, VAT returns, self-assessment, bank reconciliations, how to use accounting software and Excel effectively. More importantly, I discovered that small business owners don’t just need an accountant; they need clarity, responsiveness, and someone who genuinely cares.

Professional Growth
 

Eager to grow and learn from larger, more structured finance teams, I joined one of the UK’s largest clothing manufacturers, WoolOvers, as a finance assistant. There, I gained insight into how large accounts departments operate, but I also noticed inefficiencies. Outdated processes, manual work where automation could exist, and a lack of innovation made it clear to me that the future of accounting belongs to forward thinkers.

Leadership and Responsibility

I then joined the fast-growing firm TaxHoot, starting as an assistant accountant and progressing to chief accountant. During this time, I managed a team, took full ownership of client portfolios, and delivered everything from limited company tax returns to VAT, bookkeeping, and self-assessments. I implemented modern systems, built scalable processes, and learned how to combine technical precision with exceptional client service. I realised that premium clients don’t want slow, reactive service they want strategy, insight, and confidence.
